...we wish, this is, however, the top code 'TEA' Tank. Just finishing off some of the artwork and preparing it for the journey ahead as it goes through testing before release.

Sorry this one has taken so long to complete, we just had a few technical issues at the start but hopefully it will be smooth rolling from now on...

Hunslet 0-6-0ST Ring Haw

Another locomotive in the works for the Railway Donation Scheme, Hunslet 0-6-0ST . Progress is good, and we plan to visit this locomotive this week for detailed photographs so that we can go ahead and add the details to the model.

First time we have attempted a Steam Engine but hopefully it will look good once finished.

Long time, no blog

It's been a while since we've blogged, simply because we've been very busy. As you probably know by now we have started a new game which is expected to be released Dec/January time.

On the RailWorks side we are (as I type) painting the Class 04, after which we will put it in game and update the blog some more. Then it's time to finish the cab, unwrap, shadow bake, texture, get it in game, animate, get it in game and test.

We already have the sounds for the 04 so it shouldn't take long to add them, then it's time for the performances and simulation data. We might have a little surprise there, depends though!

I will personally try to update the blog some more, so stick around again and we'll provide you with useful information.

Looping without interference.

If you've ever attempted to edit sounds or create new sound files from exsisting recordings this tutorial will be very helpful.

Have you tired to loop a sound sample but suffered from an intermittent clicking sound? If so then continue to read and I'll explain in the best way possible to loop sounds.

Looping sounds is not only based on the actual audio of the clip but it also contains a lot of visual reference too. Programs such as Goldwave, Sony Sound Forge and Adobe Sound Booth all offer a visual reference to the sound clip as well as the audio reference via the play button.

In this example I will use Goldwave being as it contains a lot of features, with an all round ease of use. To download Goldwave visit http://www.goldwave.com/.

Once downloaded, run the program and simply drag the source recording into the main screen area of Goldwave. This will then open that file and show a visual reference of the audio file.

Again in this example I will attempt to loop an engine idling sound. Firstly, use the section tool to select a section of sound that you would like to use. If you're looping an engine, as I am, you will need to ensure that the rhythm of the engine sound is believable and realistic.

First make sure you have the following setup.

So taking away the consideration that it may have an intermittent sound just hit the YELLOW play button and listen to the rhythm. Once you are happy with

the rhythm copy that section and paste it as a new file.

I will not explain how to do that as the program is very simple to use.

Once you have pasted the new file (that was sected from the source recording) you should be able to play the file directly via the yellow button again, if you was lucky you may not have any interference what so ever. However 80% of the time there is interference, so this is where I will explain how to remove this.

Why does it have interference? - this is simple because the ends of the sound clip do not match, therefore producing a 'clicking' or 'clunking' sound between the ends.

If you are placing this sound file inside a simulation program such as RailWorks it will have the same effect or possibly, dramatically worse because of the sound engine inside the program.

There are two ways to prevent interference, below is the first way.

To insure that the ends of the files match we need to zoom into the visualisation of the sound clip. If you have a mouse roller simply roll the mouse to zoom in and continue to zoom in until the sound visualisation is slight jagered and squared.

The below image clear shows this. Also notice the highlighted red line showing the center line of the sound clip.

As a guide line we can use the center balance line of the sound file to help us match the ends together. In this case they are slightly above the center lines. Its probably best to insure that they sit directly on the center lines for both the left and right channels of the audio. Simply select a section of the audio (whilst zoomed in) and delete them until the audio lines are sitting directly on top of the center line. Repeat process at the other end of the sound clip.

After which the sound should loop OK. If not is a case of trial and error to insure it does, but the bottom line is either ends need to match, visually.

The other way to do this without deleting sections of the clip (if using a small clip for example, like mine) you can simply do the 'select and reverse' trick. To do this select the whole clip, then copy and paste into the same file. When you paste the new section DO NOT DESELECT, you need to click the 'Effects' menu at the top and then hit reverse.

After you've done (depending on the ryhm of the sound) you should have a nice looping audo clip. Below is how mine turned out.

This is the latest project for RS/RW from our Simulation Department here at Oovee, the TEA Tank Wagon. The vehicle is still in development but it is hoped we will be able to provide several livery variations, custom scenarios including updated scenarios to include the Just Trains Class 60 once it's released and on top of that custom sounds!

HST Buffers in RailWorks

We are trying to make the HST Buffer pack compatible with RailWorks. At this time everything is functioning as it should, however work remains in placing the new window shaders on the locomotive itself.

EDIT: The HST Buffers are now fully compatible with both RS and RW.

HST Buffers

The HST Buffers are to be released within the next week or so. They will include 3 complete HST-sets with custom unbranded paint jobs (Thanks to David Hossack). You'll then have the option to download the branded liveries from UKTS for free.

The package will also include unquie custom MK3 sounds which will only play on our 'Buffered HSTs' so that it doesn't override or remove any other packages you may have installed.

There wont be any scenarios included due to the fact that many will be included in Darren Porters Newcastle to York modern line, along with packages from the Armstrong Powerhouse.

The coupling system has been specially designed so that it removes the classic hop/jump when you manually couple to another set, it also prevents the buffers from overlapping on corners.

Another blog will be made once released so keep checking back for more information. At this time the package is priced at £6.99.

Record Breaker

It's been a little while since I posted; we've been fairly busy with random things - however a member of the team Jack Royle has been working hard to produce this wonderful representation of the OBB 1216 Taurus locomotive.

The Siemens-built Taurus locomotive has had its place in the record books when it touched 357km/h on the 2nd Semtember 2006 a NEW world record speed for locomotives! It's truely a unquie locomotive, along with its older sisters the 1016 and 1116 which both produce a very strange sound when departing from a stationairy position.

We are very excited to be creating this locomotive and hope to include some different features from what is normally expected in Rail Simulator. The cab consists of two computer screens rather than the classic analogue guages which will tells you your speed/amps and everything the driver needs to know.

The text on the screens will be in German however a free patch will be available to convert it into English.

You may of noticed that this locomotive has 4 pantographs. These consist of AC and DC power controllers which can be used across different continents. Whether this will be simulated correctly is another matter but for now I think the AC voltage will be default.

Class 90 in motion

OK, another project on its way from Oovee. It's a Class 90! - We started work last week and finially have some images to show you.

Thanks to 'Horgy' for his help so far, this little beast is really starting to show us some form!

You maybe thinking "haven't they got enough on at the moment?". Yes we have, thats why we will only be announcing one more locomotive before the year is out and not annoucing anymore until these are complete.

I hope to show you more progress as time goes on, and if you're interested in hearing more then please become a follower, I'd really appreciate it.

Class 150/2 Information/Progress

It may seem that we take an age to do anything, but we like to take our time to insure that we produce top-quality products. I thought I'd share this screenshot with you so that you can see the current progress of the 150.

As you can see it has a lot more detail now, but still not enough! - We will be re-working the body (as far as I know) to improve the angled front end, once that's done I'll share another image with you.

When will this be available? At this time it's hard to tell. But from a managers POV I would like to think it will be another 6 months or so. We are still undecided whether to include the Class 156 in the same package or not.

How much? Well again this depends on whether we include the 156 in the same package, but if it's to be a single package I'm pretty sure it'll be around about £10.99.

What will it include? Obvoiusly the Class 150 model itself, along with the cab and saloon. 10+ liveries and 5+ scenarios.

What level of detail is to be expected? You'll certainly get your pennies worth with our products. Have you ever been in a driving cab of a Class 150?

or any train come to think of it? Well you'll know they not in pristine condition. You'll see things such as coffee

cup rings on the driving desk, graffiti and paperwork.

We'll also include window reflections, guage reflections and illuminating guages with realistic textures all round.

Excited yet? We are! :-)

A bit of publishing.

Hello,

Some of you may know that we do offer publishing at Oovee, and we will also help you finish your product if need be (subject to conditions). Anyway, we will be publishing a Class 50 for Michael Whiteley in the near future.

As much as we'd like to; we couldn't provide our services to record sounds from a Class 50 seeing as their so hard to get hold of. So it will be released with no sounds (apart from using default 55 sounds no doubt).

But we will be helping Michael with texturing, testing, simulation data and of course publishing. At the moment we have the exterier model complete, with the interior coming along nicely. Below is some screenshots so far.

At this time we don't have any release dates or pricing but it will come shortly I should imagine so become a follower and find out first!

Pimp my ride

We've finially managed to find some time to update our Grand Central repaint to version 2. The update includes fixs to the colourisation and alpha channel.

Prevoiusly on version 1 we accediently removed the alpha channel making the repaint very shiney. This then made us paint the train in a lighter colour to compensate. It wasn't until we released the

repaint we noticed that the alpha channel was missing.

But thankfully version 2 is on the way with all the fixs and new features. Screenshots below shows the improvements including the buffers we've added.

Let Xenon light up for life.

We have just released the Xenon lights modification for Euro Truck Simulator. We spent a considerable amount of time researching this, during the development of this modification.

We have successfully achieved what we was after; a complete replication of the basics from the Xenon lights. Yes, they actually reduce eye strain and imitates daylight in game!

Just a small update showing some more progress on the Class 156 for Rail Simulator.

We've still got to do some small adjustments to the main frame shape, but things will progress more over the coming months and will certainly be blogged.

We have nearly finished creating our first piece of freeware for FSX. This is a reskin of Carenado's new Cessna 152 created specially for FSX Sp2 or Acceleration Expansion, however an FS9 version is also available. We cannot recommend this product highly enough.

Featuring an accurate virtual cockpit with realistic instruments, superb exterior modelling and exacting flight dynamics, this aircraft represents GA perfection!

This reskin is of G-GFLY which is actually a Cessna 150F. This is the aircraft which Zane actually uses at his local Flying School.
